Find meeting times between the US and Europe
For most of the year, Berlin is 6 hours ahead of New York and 9 hours ahead of San Francisco. With 09:00–17:00 at both ends, every extra hour of distance removes an hour of shared working time.

How it works
- On 15 January 2026, New York and Berlin share two hours: 09:00–11:00 in New York, 15:00–17:00 in Berlin. From Chicago it is one hour; from San Francisco there is none.
- Berlin closes at 17:00, which is 08:00 in San Francisco. Someone has to move: a 07:00–15:00 day in San Francisco creates one hour, 16:00–17:00 in Berlin.
- The US and Europe change their clocks on different Sundays in March and in October or November. For those weeks the gap is one hour smaller, so check those dates separately.
